As ‘Saved by the Bell’ finished its run in 1993, there was a gap in the market that seemed primed for another situational comedy to take its place. And that’s exactly what F.R.I.E.N.D.S did as we met 6 friends in their early 20s in a cafe in Manhattan. From the moment Friends hit our screens, we were invested in their lives. (Although, that’s looking back with rose-tinted glasses – if we’re honest, as the show did not receive good reviews for its debut season!)

Fast forward a few years and the show was averaging over 20 million viewers an episode – and over 25 million by Season 8.
